Welcome to the Carlton Miniott Parish Council Website

The number of Councillors required to run the above Parish Council is seven.

At the present time the Parish Council has four Councillors with a vacancy for three more. Having only four Councillors makes it very difficult to vote on important Parish issues as a quorate of a minimum of three is required to vote.

If you have any interest in becoming a Parish Councillor please contact the Clerk by letter or email with your name, address and telephone number and a little bit about yourself and why you would like to be a Parish Councillor.

You do not have to live in Carlton Miniott to represent the Residents but you must live within a three mile radius, own property within the Parish or work in the Parish.

The Council meet every fourth Monday in the month at 7.30pm except for August and December. The venue is St Lawrence's Church, Carlton Miniott.

Carlton Miniott is situated to the west of Thirsk on the A61 main road to Ripon with good access to both the A19 and A1M roads making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. To the east lie the North York Moors and the North Yorkshire coast with its picturesque villages and the bustling coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough. To the west are the Yorkshire Dales with their attractive and varied landscapes ideal for the artist, photographer and hill-walker

The historic city of York is less than an hours' drive away with an efficient Park and Ride service. For those who don't want to drive there is a good rail service and a limited daily bus service from Thirsk. There is a regular bus service to Thirsk, Ripon and Northallerton through Carlton Miniott.

The village has many other attractions within easy driving distance from Theme Parks to historic castles and monasteries and in the village itself the angler can fish to his heart's content.
